Listening Valley

About this book

In *Listening Valley* Miss Stevenson maintains the standard she has previously achieved. It is a well-told story of the adolescence and maturity of two sisters, one, apparently, helplessly dependent on the other. The tragedy of an abrupt and unexpected separation as it affects Antonia, the weaker character of the two is movingly developed and her gradual growth and maturity, aided by the love of a gentle and devoted husband and the trial by ordeal of war-time London and its blitzes, is sympathetically told, The scene changes in the second half of the story to the lovely lowland country of Scotland, where surrounded by the warm hearts of an Air-crew and outstanding examples of the sturdy Scottish working class she attains a triumphant solution of her early psychological insecurity.
